As we all know, not all "chain" stores are equal, when it comes to fishing "stuff". I live in the Buffalo, NY area. Of course there is Gander Mountain and Galyan's, and both have large, well stocked fishing departments.
Other than these two (as far as Walmart and Dick's stores); in your opinion, which of their stores have the best equipped fishing depts? They are NOT all equal, store-to-store, in each chain.
In other words, what specific Buffalo area locations of Walmart AND Dick's have the nicest (fishing) selections?
Thanks for your opinions!

I try to use the small shops. (Dunkirk - Bill's Hooks - is loaded with walleye and Steelhead gear). (Pembrook bait and tackle - Salmon gear) (Lewiston - Downriver - loaded with Salmon & Trout gear) (other than that you have the three big guys - Gander - Galyans- Dicks)
My fishing buddy was telling about the great stuff in Walmart and how he got 300 yrds 14 lb Florocarbon for $2.00.
He had three line breaks today on fish. I'll pay the difference at the other stores.
I take a tackle breakdown too personal.

Have you tried Rainbow Sports,267 Oliver St. North Tonawanda?
Lots of stuff for fishing, also has an indoor Archery range.
Call them at 716-692-7510 This is from an old business card. I haven`t been there in some time but the phone # should be the same.

Thank You
Stonehead
For the link, I'll call tomorrow.
Tony, on Niagara, sold out to Rodger Irish. He runs Sunset Bay Marina on The Cataraugus Creek in Irving. Rodger has the store and the name "Tony the Reel Man" at the Old 'Keene Marine".

Thanks for the information!
Jim, I do not know anyone who refinishes rods.
You might be able to get info. about that at the Sportsman's show, at the Hamburg Fairgrounds, March 11 - 14.

Jim,
You got room for one more? The Keys are great!
I was thinking of moving there when I retire,
until I saw the price of the houses. WOW!
Maybe a condo, maybe not on the water.:)
Stayed in Key Largo last time. Like it better
In the middle of the Keys. Best time was at
Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Cay.
Be sure to stop in the Bass Pro Shop.

Hawk's Cay is a great place, Little pricy for a two week stay. We found a hotel we like near Bud and Mary's with a dock at the door. Breezy Palms. They have efficiencies. Can walk to bass Pro, better yet we'll take the boat and have lunch like the rich guys.
Price of homes and condo's is out of site. We'll rent. I got some friends from Sunset Bay that retired there for the winter. Their loving life. Sun, fun, and sportfishing.
Chopping ice on the walks today complaining about a sunburn tommorow.

Jim, I don't have an answer to your question but I wanted to wish you a great time in The Keys. I've been down there a couple of times fishing and it's always a great time. I too think I may retire to the area but it will be my summer place. I want my winter place where I have a loooong ice fishing season. Yeah, I know, I'm nuts. Gilligan and Sluggo tell me that all the time.

Pete
I only met you a couple of times, you looked and seemed sane and if Gilligan wants to turn you into his tournament partner I sure he gave you and IQ test.
Is someone editing your posts about the looong icefishing season or is jigging5 and Sluggo falsifying your records to slide you onto the Gilligan Fishing Team for a dubious reason?

Fred if your able to read this be careful. Jigging5 & Sluggo move to 250Hp Trackers and you find a new partner. Did these guys introduce you to Pete. Sounds like a Mel Gibson movie - Conspiracy Theory

Jim.
I hope you enjoy your trip to the Key's. I enjoy ice fishing as well as open water fishing but, I hope the ice clears in mid March so I can get that Tundra broke in by the Apr. Detroit river tournament. My luck, I will still be pulling Perch through a 8" hole... I wonder if Pete sits on a five gal. bucket in the boat like he does on the ice ??? He and Gilligan should have fun together and make for some good compitition. I hope things work out for Gilligan though, so they can fish a few events. Fred has a lot of pressure and stress with his boy being deployed to Iraq and his greedy employer messing with his livelihood. I feel for him and hope it all works out for him and his family. Enjoy your trip and I will see you on Erie........... Oh, by the way those are some nice photos. The one team photo was real nice.
