View Full Version : PWT Purse
I am considering entering amateur division, but I don't understand the payout. My calculations show there is 41150.00 up for grabs. How many competeing amateurs is this based on and does this go up if there is more? Some tournaments had as many as 252 contestants last year.Any insight on this would be appreiciated

Ben,
None of the prizes are cash. You win a bunch of stuff from the sponsers of the tourney.

you don't win cash but you do fork over cash come tax time. It is based on the super overinflated value of the items.

I agree but it is still a great experiance
I have already signed up for the rcl event on winnebago and so far the rcl seems to be the way to go.5-600 bucks a tournament is hard to part with, and unless someone else can convince me otherwise the rcl seems to be the moneywise way to go.I have fished a couple wwa events and last year I was in the merc natls, but I have researched other tourneys and plan on taking a larger leap into the sport soon.I don't understand the concept of tournament sponsorship.Seems to me everyone pays there entry fee then the guys who run the event skim a little off the top to organize the event and what ever is left is awarded out. What do all the sponsors contribute, and if they don't why are there names plastered all around these events?
The purse is about $52,000, and the prizes are based on the prices in Cabela's or Bass Pro catalogs (that's not inflated to me). The deal is fish PWT for 3 days compared to RCL where 90 % of ams go home after 2 days. Whatever you decide, go in with a willingness to learn from the pro anglers.

Ben, as an am. on the PWT you will fish 3 days ( weather permiting ) with some of the best walleye fisherman in the world, that alone is hard to beat. Anyone with a ranger, lund or crestliner boat can fish the RCL, and chances are you will only fish 2 days. The RCL pays out cash, PWT gives out prizes. I've fished both as an am. and I liked the PWT best. Don't get me wrong, the RCL is great, lots of top notch pros. For me,the PWT was the best, most informative time on the water.
