Hello all,
Does anyone out there have a way to get blems, scratches and dull areas on screens back to the shiny, mirror finish they came with out of the box? I have a GM 2000 with a damaged, scratched, dull screen. Otherwise, the thing works great. Is there a way to put the polish back into them? Ultra-fine buffing compond? Don't want to make things worse... Any thoughts??
Tight lines....

I've had pretty good luck with Novus brand plastic polish. They sell a kit that has 3 bottles of different polish, one for heavy scratches, 1 for fine, then a final polish. They're at www.noscratch.com. Get the special polishing towels they sell, too.

Meguires sells 2 products to use together first a cleaner and then a polish for plastic. I used it and they look like new when you are done. It is about as hard to apply as a good paste wax and cost about 8$ per bottle. I picked mine up at Pierz Marine in Shakopee MN but try your dealer he may have it.
Hope this helps

Both BoatUS and WestMarine also carries the Mcguire's products for plastic lens cleaner/restorer. Therefore, can purchase on line if needed. Have these products before and nearly perform miracles.

Dave,
3rd vote for Meguires. I had an old Eagle and the screen was pretty nasty but Meguires plastic polish fixed 98% of the scratches and dull areas.
I will warn you in advance that it’s not a quick process but hey it’s winter.

try flitz, thats all I use. I get it from gibbons fiber glass and repair in bismarck N.D. Does a great job, most boat dealers use it on screens. gun shops should have it to.

I fourth the vote for the Mequiar's. I have used the Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #17 Clear Plastic Cleaner and the results were nothing short of incredible. I cleaned up my screen on my old Lowrance X70A that I thought was fogged internally and it made it almost like new again. It took a lot of elbow grease, but the results were well worth it.
Meguiar's sells the stuff in an 8oz bottle and it can be bought for $6.95 off their web site.

I have an old Eagle Z6100 that was starting to peel/flake on the screen, with some scratches. I called Lowrance and talked to a technician, and he recommended using Dupont glazing compound on it. So I did, with some elbow grease, and time I had it looking like new. Since then, I have used it on my X70A, and worked as well. I got the glazing compound at the local Checkers auto parts store.
