Fella's as I'm doing the tackle reorganize thing I have noticed that the plano compartments are just too big for keeping my rapala's. They are really too wide and the boxes are way too deep (3700 series) I need to find a similar box that is about 3/4 of an inch deep.I really get tired of having 6 size 7 org. floaters in one compartment. Anyone else have this problem or is there something out there that I don't know about ?

I've got the Cabela's Advanced Anglers tackle bag. I've got all 3700 boxes in there. They make several different kinds. I'm not up on the numbers anymore, but it sounds like you've got the plain old 3700. Then there is like a 3701, or something, that is 1/2 the depth of a standard 3700. The slots run the long way in the box and you can put dividers across those and create little compartments something just larger than square across the length. They've also got a deep version too that is twice as deep as a standard 3700. But it sounds as though you'd prefer the thin style. Hope that helps.

Matt is right. Plano makes a box, I think the 3701 is right, that is half as deep as the 3700. They work great for smaller to medium sized baits. You'd be suprised how much more efficient those thinner boxes are, just becuase you can fit that many more boxes into your bag or compartment.

Plano makes a real nice model, I believe it's their 758-005. Hard box with slide out trays, has nice Lund and Yamaha decals, and it comes with about 50 Rapala's with it too. They fit nicely in the trays. Found some hook-outs, a scale, and some other goodies in it too. Kind of expensive, but it comes with a free boat too, so it wasn't too bad.

I believe this is what you are talking about: The plano 3701

p.s.
I have several of them. I use them exclusivly for all of my hard baits. It has cut my storage space almost in 1/2.

I use the 3701 for my jig box. Lots of compartments to separate a full variety of jig colors and sizes and it lessens the total weight you can put in it. I use the 3700 model for my many crankbaits. I generally take six 3700 boxes of cranks to cover most ever option that I w0uld face.

As several others already stated, the Plano 3701 is a real space saver. If my memory is correct, they are about an 3/4 inch shallower than the 3700. Anyway, they allowed me to get 4 extra boxes in my storage area, meaning that I can now comfortably take all my tackle with me.

Check out the new Shimano Lure Storage boxes before making purchase.
They're as convenient as a stick bait box can be and come in 3 different configurations (inside) to hold a variety of different stick baits, crank baits or other top water lures.
Each lure sets in it's own individual slot with no chance of the hooks getting tangled with any other lures in the box.
The model SHM-37-TW will hold 18 # 13 Rapalas or similar baits or 36 smaller baits if put nose to nose in each compartment.
There are foam inserts on both ends of the box that hold the baits by the rear treble hook and another foam insert that runs right down the center of the box so if you put 2 smaller baits in the same slot, neither will come free and tangle.
The model SHM-37-ST holds 18 larger stick baits and doesn't have the foam strip down the middle . This box was intened just for one lure per compartment.
The model SHM-37-CB is the crank bait box and there are 12 compartments in that one but they are much wider so they'll accomodate the fat bodied crank baits.
They're color coded so you'll know what's in the box you're pulling out of your bag. I believe them to be the same demensions as the 3700 planos but they're just thick enough for the baits that they hold.
Not the best quality boxes in the world but convenient and very practical if you've ever spent one second untangling hooks on your baits.
Wal-Mart had them in the blow out bins last week for $3.50 each.

I just received a Bass Pro catalog, and they have a box with both straight and angled dividers. One of them is only 1.38" thick.

Like those angled ones. Great for Shad Raps.
