How does everyone store crank baits and spoons (Stinger type)? Has anyone found anything new or better or maybe just different??
Thanks,

I like the shallow 3700 boxes...set them up sorted by "Sinking", "Suspending" and "Floating" for Cranks and spoonsint the same boxes...

One thing I have done to all my boxes for cranks and stuff is drill vent holes in them...I garage saled all my very nice gasketed...watertight boxes...didn't think about what I was doing when I put htem away wet just one time...RUST...hooks aren't all that expensive but it takes so much time...

Right on! The shallow boxes you're refering to are the Plano 3701's which are available via BP, Cabela's and others. They are 1 3/8" deep versus 2" for the standard 3700. The best bag I've ever found is distributed by a small company out of the Chicago area. It's a very simple bag w/o a bunch of extra pockets & gadgets. It will hold eleven
(11!!) 3701's. The bag is a top loader with the 3701's going in the long way. This results in the smallest possible footprint. I label the ends of the 3701's which indicates what is inside. Unlike some others, I don't find that I have a problem w/ hooks tangling & such.
I have two of the bags and use them primarily for Cranks.

I also use a Crappie bag from BP for hooks, split shot, rigging stuff & spinner hardware. This bag moves easily around the boat.

Finally, I also use a plastic's bag for various tails, etc.

Check out the B&B tackle boxes. All of your baits hang and drip off without rusting your hooks. For more information contact Barb & Bill Standke at: bstandke@vbe.com. You won't be dissappointed.

Bob, I like the "tackle mate" storage boxes. check out pics at

I bought one of the shallower ones that holds all my spoons and one of the deeper ones for cranks. email me if questions.

It's an easy choice, B & B Bait boxes. I use them for spoons and flies on my charter boat and for all my crankbaits for the rest of my fishing. Check-out the products page.

I had both the 3700 and 3701 boxes by Plano. They both work very good for me. I am sure I carry way to many cranks when I go fishing, but these boxes do an excellent job of carrying them.

Here's another vote for the B&B Baitboxes. Made by some fine folks who are also tournament anglers and know what we are looking for in a box. They are made with high quality craftsmanship, and will last a very very long time. Heck, they will even float if you by chance have one go overboard!

For the Plano boxes, my vote also goes to the 3700's.

Another system to store is to use hook bonnets and then you can put the lures in ziplock bags. You can organize the bags by whatever category you like and there are no more tangles with hooks. You can store a lot of lures in a relatively small space.

Another vote for B & B. You just can't go wrong with these. Great product & great people. Hutch
