Somebody was asking a few weeks back about thin boxes for crankbait storage. On page 14 of the April 2004 Walleye Insider is the new Plano (CDS) Custom Divider System. It has angled dividers and is available in the 1 3/8" depth.

Otter,
I looked last week for the "old" Plano 3701 boxes at about 5 different places. All I could find was the CDS version of the 3701 and another model (can't remember the # but it wasa just like the 3701-except for the latches) that had what I would call "cheap" colored latches that seemed to fall of about 3 out of 4 times I tried to latch/unlatch the cover. I ended up getting 3 of the CDS boxes. I'm not sure I'm sold on the angled dividers, and the top compartment is reduced in size due to an added recessed area. I will say that the latch system on the CDS is a good improvement.
Does anyone know if Plano still makes the 3701?

Toolman, I haven't seen the new model up close and personal yet. Just looking at the picture in the magazine, I thought I might be able to squeeze in a few extra long-lipped lures like the Taildancer, but if the recessed area you mentioned reduces storage, I might lose it all back.
The 3701 still shows as availabe on Cabela's web site, and it's buy 6, get 2 free.

Unfortunately, I didn't see that in Cabelas. The loss of space in the top-center area of the CDS isn't a big deal, but you do lose a little (eq to about 2 cranks). The latches, as I said before, are pretty slick. The other Plano 3701 look alike (with the yellow? colored latches) that I checked out aren't worth a dime IMO.
