Got a 4oz. bottle of Dr. Juice extract with my spring Cabelas order. Used it 3 or 4 years ago and did well with it in one tournament when no one else was catching fish. Finised in the money and got the second biggest eye of the day. Ever since it doesn't seemed to have made a difference. I didn't like the way my hands smelled of it for days after i used it. No matter how many times I washed them. Last year I used Berkleys' and it didn't seem to do anything. What do you guys think??? If nothing else tell me what I can wash my hands with so I don't have to go to sleep smelling Dr. Juice!!! on't know if it matters but I didn't mention I always used it on jigheads. I would smother the jighead with it and then run it up and down the line 6-8 inches with my fingers every time I cast. Thanks guys!

I found a new product I really like. It's called Basswax. Available in all the standard scents. It comes in a giant chapstick-type tube and is about the same consistency. Supposedly it's real shad, craw, sardine, etc. ground and mixed with a wax base. Goes on real easy, doesn't drip and get on you and the boat, since it's not liquid or gel-type. Got it over the winter so I can't tell you yet if it catches fish or not, but I'm sold on the no mess concept!

Try washing your hands with shaving cream after you are done fishing, will take the fish and foul smell right away. Mike

I had a bottle of Dr. Juice a few years ago. I never had wild success, but I did catch fish when using it. I didn't like seeing the "oil slick" when I put the lure in the water, so I stopped using it. I used a product called Nonscents to wash my hands, but it was fairly expensive for a small bottle. I am hoping that Gulp! will now do the job for me without the hassle.

Dr. Juice has now come out with a no mess wax that come in a chap stick type container. Very easy to use, no mess, no slick, lasts longer...but still doesn't catch any more fish. You decide.....
I do 2nd your comments on the effectivness of Dr. Juice.
It is the only scent that I have used for several years, and if the fishing is slow, it really makes a difference.
Also, if the water is cold it makes a difference.
If the fish are hitting and or if the water is warm - it makes much less difference.
Take care

Pick up a bottle of HS Scents, Scent-A-Way soap or any other brand where they sell hunting supplies. I carry a bottle in my boat all the time. Wash my hands with it before I start fishing also. May have to wash them twice after rubbing the Mr Juice up and down the line.

We have found that hand sanitizer seems to help rid the smell.

Have used Preperation-H on baits for a number of years and beleive it does make a difference. Seems to stay put even when trolling. Always keep a tube in the tackle box.

Thanks for all the great tips and input guys. Especially the hand cleaning ones. Have some HS Scent soap right here un the house I use during archery season, guess I should dig it out of my hunting stuff. So far looks like the Doctor is in. Keep it coming guys. Asking questions on WC enables you to be a sponge and soak up all that knowledge. Rob C as for Preparation H I don't know about that one. Anybody else ever tried it??? I guess worst case scenario I could.....well never mind! LOL!! Keep it coming guys. Only 38 days to Pa. opening day!!!!!

[b]Started out using the Juice back in the mid 1980's when it first came out. Got to both meet and interview the inventor and wrote and article about the product, that got published in the Frank Amato Magazine, Salmon Trout Steeleheader (STS), home based in Oregon.
The stuff worked wonders on the cold water species such as Steelhead and Salmon. I even had very good success using it during the fall on the rivers for walleyes. They even had this thing called a Juicer, that was an absorbent round ball, that you'd incorporate into whatever rig you were using. You'd put a few drops of the juice formula on this round ball and it would milk as you fished. It actually worked well above a #6 mustad baitholder Carolina rigged and baited with a shiner for walleyes.
I did not like what repeated use of the juice did to some of my cranbaits though. They became very sticky to handle and the paint started to peel on some others. I'll say that it does indeed work when the conditions are right. That being in colder water. But all scents are ment to intice fish that are in a neautral mood, or reinforce the ones who will commit. None will make a fish bite when he don't want to.

Try fox urine or gasoline, they work great.. I always recommend them to my competition. Its always good to share some hot tips with your friends. You have asked enough questions on here. Don't you have cars to sell? No, Pro-cure makes some great scents. They have about a 100 natural and artificial scents to choose from (liquids and gels). I refuse to tell you my favorites though Ha ha........

Preperation H works good, smear some on the sides of your cranks or spinner blades, buy some silver glitter at your local arts and crafts store and load up the H with glitter, as you troll or cast, the glitter falls off and gives an appearance of scales falling off. It may sound stupid, but when you pull in a few 8-9 lbser it will make a believer out of you. I think Dr. Juice works in colder water, but be careful, it can really make a mess out of things, carpet stains, sticky splash wells, etc.

Thank you Jiggin5 for those helpful hand cleaning tips. I'm gonna fill my back livewell with 1 gallon gasoline and 1 bottle fox urine. This way i'll have a hand washing station right on the boat! That's why I love WC cause you get such helpful information! I always feel the love!!! As for Preparation H I guess i'll give it a whirl. If nothing else my tournament partner will have something new to bust my balls about! If it works i'll be loving you guys for telling me about it.
Thanks Walleye Express and the rest of you guys for the cold water tip concerning the good Doctor.
As for you Jiggin5,I don't know why you'd care about me asking questions. Since you got that new boat all I figure you're gonna be doing is racing Tim and Charlie and all the rest of those high powered boat guys up and down the reservoir! You guys won't even be fishing! I WILL!!!!! LOL!

If you check out the ingredience of Preperation H you will see that it contains shark oil. Have heard that the shark oil is what makes it effective.

Gary,
You won't see me on the Zua. It looks like the D.A.V. tournament is the only one on the Kinzua that I can fish due to my schedule. That is if the date for that tournament doesn't change to a date I have another tournament. I am missing Slavens, Kinzua Kenny and the K.A.W.A in Onaville. Tough missing tournaments on your own Lake. Sure will miss all the money He hee. I will see you at other events though. Look for the black blurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. If you hear something behind you, don't turn around or you will miss her going by.
Her name is Betty.
