I've been basically a St. Croix fan for years. IMHO they do not make a bad rod in any price range.
This last weekend I checked out a couple of Quantum Rods and they felt very very good. I think that they were the lightest rods I have ever picked up. They were going for 90 bucks. Anyone have any experience with these? Who makes them? Their fast taper rods felt awesome.
Any suggestions?

What model were they do you know? I've got some older quantum baticasting rods that i really like. I think the model was the "Tour HSX". They are very nice rods, and even though they are beat to crap, they are still my favorite casting rods.

If you found the Quantum PT rods - normally $149 - sometimes $129 - for $90 (!) - buy it! I don't know who makes their blanks, but I have their 6'LT model for pitching light jigs and really like it. Very light and sensitive.

I too am a St Croix user and LOVE THEM!!!
A few weeks ago I bought a NEW Quantum PT Bait Casting reel to try out and mated that to a Quantum Pro Tour Pt Casting rod. I have to say that it may become my favorite casting setup. Prior to this my favorite was my St. Croix Avid Rod with a Abu Garcia Morrum reel. Time will tell, but so far I am VERY impressed with both the reel and the rod.

Most likely won't find out who makes Quantam rods. 99% chance its from Asia somewhere by some unknown company that makes rods for a half a dozen other companies. Check the rod over once. It'll usually say "Made by Quantam Taiwan", or some such thing on it.
Better to have and not need than to need and not have!

I agree, the PT rods seem to have an excellent feel to them and they seem to have the extra fast tip action down perfectly for jigging. Have not tried them, but I will pick up at least one this year.

The Quantum rods that I played with and were impressed with were PTC 644M Med. Lite. PS12. They are the tour edition with a retail value of 90.
