Im considering buying the Pursuit rod holders with the track mounting system. I troll with dipseys, planers and flatline on Erie and was wondering if the angled rod holders would work ok rather than getting the adjustable ones, there is about a $45 difference per holder.

Thanks in advance for the help

Brian,
For optimum dipsey presentations you want the ability for your rodholders to be nearly horizontal to the surface of the water, which would dictate the adjustable ones. The Pursuit and Berts rodholders / tracks / swivel mounts are great stuff. I have some of the Berts stuff on my boat. If you are going that route then I'd recommend the adjustable holders - cheaper in the long run to buy the right stuff the first time. Don't buy the plastic Pursuit holders for dipseys - they even tell you not to.

Another option I'd recommend for dipsey rod holders are the Vector rodholders. Very adjustable both horizontally and vertically. Mount to the boat with a single 4x4 baseplate and then 1,2,3,4,or even 5 bank set of holders. They also have clamp on rail mounts if you have a rail on the rear of the boat. For rail mount applications, you can also go with clamp on Perko or better yet Lees holders for dipseys and / board rods.

Fisherman's Wharf in Port Clinton has the most extensive selection of trolling rodholders in the area.

Have fun shopping!

Where would a guy see some of these choices on the web?

Steve,
I have 4 of the metal adjustable Pursuits and they are nice. Regarding the Lexan adjustables....I spoke with the owner of the company recently and he indicated that they'd been reinforced with metal and would work with dipseys. That being said, I'd STILL prefer the metal ones. I did buy 4 of the lexan holders but mainly to use with my in line planer board rods.
Hope ya tear 'em up this weekend!

Brian,

I have all Pursuit stuff on my rig.

I've got some of the non-adjustable holders sitting on a shelf in my garage if you are interested, I don't like them.

I'm using the Lexan holders with the reinforced base and have had no problems using them with Dipseys trolling for Stripers and Salmon. My stuff sees a lot of use and abuse and have not had one problem with the Pursuit stuff.

If I had the cash, I'd upgrade to the aluminum adjustabele, but the Lexan have treated me well. Been using them for over a year now without a failure and all of my friends using them have never had a failure either. For horizontal presentations on the rods I've got RAM track adapters and use my RAM holders for the flat rods.

I can send you some photos if you wan to see them.

Great stuff, can't go wrong.

Good luck,

B Thomas

How much do you want for them?? I have 3 adjustable now and need one more but want two fixed angle for the inline boards. I am very interested. If you want to send a photo of what you dont want email them to BThomas8@NEO.RR.COM
