I'd like to troll 1/4oz hot'n'tots, #5-7 shad raps and #8-10 husky jerks close to bottom in 20 to 30 ft. of water. Last summer I experimented with the "20 plus" system but only with 1oz snap weights. I've done some research on leadcore and read up on snap weights in the latest 2 "Precision Trolling" manuals but I still need some opinions please. Thanks

If you want to fish with your lure 4" above the bottom or contour troll, the best way to do that is with leadcore and a short leader (maybe even a Fireline leader), holding the rod and adjusting to the bottom every once in a while.

In open water situations snap wts & leadcore both add depth, both are speed dependant. Leadcore tracks the boat better, and is a slower rise or fall.

For boards most use segmented lead core with 2 or 3 colors spliced into mono.

Hope this helps, good luck.
