What do some of you guys do to your ice auger before putting it away for the summer? I'm sure you should use stabil in the gas but do you spray anything on the auger part and blades? If so what?

I drain all gas out of gas tank & little hose running to fuel filter. Pull the spark plug, spray oil in the cylinder, pull starter chord a couple times to move the oil around the cylinder, replace spark plug and put away. Been doing this for the past 12 yrs. and auger starts up first pull every new season. I'ms sure otheres do something else, but htis has worked for me. Hope this helps. Duffy

In addition to what Duffy does, I also paint my auger blade with grease and wrap it in a plastic bag. Those auger blades like to rust.

And I also remove the auger from the motor. It likes to rust where they connect, also.

I run fuel stabilizer through it most all the time anyway, so that part is done, when I quit in spring. Then when I know it's over for the year, I dump the fuel out of the tank.... and hang it vertically in the garage.

Dump the gas, start it up, once it dies put it away, never a problem.

Run stabil until in carb then dump gas and run empty.
Spray the blades with WD40 they will not rust.
