Just bought 2 10'6" Shimano Convergence "graphite" rods for lead core. I mainly will use pulling in rivers with typical baits of shad raps or rip shads.

The rods are medium(12-20 lb), action is slow. They seem to have a good action, but jbefore I use them, thought I would aske people who lead core frequently.

Is it okay to use graphite vs glass or is one better for reading the tips? Is the action of these okay? Should I be looking for another rod?

Any help would be appreciated

Al,
Lead core is a no stretch line so reading the tip is not as important as a forgiving and cushioning action.

I assume you went with that much length to gain spread on flat lines. 10' plus rods are somewhat of a hastle in tournament style boats. I would choose a 7-1/2 or 8' rod, but there's always that personal preference thing.

I still owe you a trip, so let me know if you're coming this way.
Good luck and good fishing.
