i was looking at them today how do you use them, i know you put them on your fishing line let out line, what about the red flag, how do you know if you have a fish.
You learn to "read" the board (the added drag of any fish pulls the board back) or you can get a tattle flag kit so that a fish drops the flag. Experience is all that it takes.

Redog, The red flag is to give you better visability of the board if the waves get carried away. Also helps other boats to see them. Also gives you a place to put lights for night fishing. The 2 releases are to hold the board straight. If you use a super line you will need to upgrade the front release to a snapper release. A lot of times with a smaller fish it will pull the line out of the rear release and cause the board to go over on its side. A bigger fish will pull the board back, or make it look like a bobber. As stated you can also upgrade the flags to the tattle tale flags that pull down when you have a fish on or get fowled in the weeds.

Go with the tattle tale flags. They're awesome!
