A friend of mine is dying of cancer and as a "last wish" wants to go fishing in Canada for pickerel. I only fish for walleyes and don't know what to tell him. He's looking for a remote, possibly fly in, location with good guides, prepared food, and of course great fishing. Money is not an issue for this trip, as it will most likely be his last. Can anyone point me in the right direction????

thanx.

When you say Pickerel, do you really mean Pickerel? Some Canadians call walleye pickerel and many folks call northern pike Pickerel. I suspect that you are interested in Northern Pike. Correct?

Thanks. I sought clarification and he is interested in Northerns. (A fish I try to avoid) Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks again for the input as this is not my area of expertise.

This is probably the best remote resort around for huge Northern Pike.

The canada page is loaded full of high end dream trips - Knee lake/ Athabasa //Reindeer - there is a current post going now - just search under trophy pike and read until next week.

best wishes to your friend :)

I hope and pray your friend does well.Never give up hope.My wife just passed away from breast cancer and she fought till the end.The last treatment may be the one to get rid of this.So tell him to keep the faith.Doctors don't know everything.

There are several top notch lakes in Ontario to choose from.

I was recently in a similar situation. My best friend had been fighting melanoma and we decided that we would take one last trip this summer. He did not make it, but went out fighting. Long story/short. Make sure you do it and don't worry about the expense. You will only regret not doing it. Have a great trip.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Based on what I heard here, and the websites suggested, I passed along the following suggestions and we plan on going in the immediate future. I suggested these three, asked him to look over the websites and choose, and told him I'd set it up. Thanks again.

"The Three" 1.Knee Lake Resort
2.Plummers
3.Norse Lake Lodge
