My last question on Guidewear...I promise.
I am getting the bibs, but should I go with the jacket or parka???
Thanks, Turk

I have the jacket that I really like. Personally I don't like the bulkiness of a parka. Either way I don't think you could go wrong.

I guess it depends on if you plan on using it in extreme cold ..or just summer.
I have the parka. I wear it over a fleece jacket and I am toasty warm, as guide wear cuts the wind really well.
Does everyone have insulated or non-insulated?

I have the inslated and it works from zero to 60* -----Parka----

Parka for me. I have had jackets ride up and you get a breaker down the pants...defeats the purpose of the rainwear. Even with the bibs, I like the extra protection. As for the insulation, I prefer without. I wear them all summer long and then add a Polar Tec 300 liner. No insulation if you want a 4 season garment...but if you can have two sets???

Insulated with the jacket for me. Had the parka a little to bulky for my liking but very nice none the less.

go with the jacket. The parka is clumsy to wear and fish out of.

My vote is for the parka. If you fish in the cold, as well as the wet, the parka gives some extra protection. I know it is a little more bulky, and that can cause problems, but if the wind is blowing, and the temps are low.......its always better to have it and not need, rather to need it and not have it...

I have the insulated jacket and have fished in very cold weather. I chose this since I like to sit as well as stand and it is more comfortable while in the seat. I use a cheap pair of rain pants over some warm fleece pants and it has so far worked great. It is a great jacket.

I have the Guidewear Parka and just love it. It offers a lot of protection from the weather, when the conditons are not so ideal.
Mine in non-insulated. My parka is roomy and I dress in layers when I fish Canada in Mid-Sept. and Northern Minnesota in late October. The shoulders of the parka are very roomy and work great when I'm throwing for muskies or fishing walleye. Since I got my Guidewear three other buddies have done the same and they all went with the Parka style. Parka style has some great storage for supplies or extra clothing when you need to dress in layers (full face mask stocking hats, fishing gloves, scarfs etc.)will fit in the pockets of the Parka.

I went with the parka! I think for the fishing around here it will work better for me!

Turk,
I have both the parka and the jacket, I find that I wear the jacket about 75% of the time and if I had to choose between the two I would go with the jacket. The jacket and bibs provide good protection from the elements. I have the uninsulated set and usually wear polarfleece underneath on the miserable days.
Take care and good fishing,

For the $20 bucks, I went insulated parka.
I've got lighter rain gear for summer use.

As I have said in the other post on guidewear make sure your life jacket fits before you go out and need it. Just food for thought. JIM

Have the Jacket with bibs. Not insulated. Fish summer and winter. Winter with layers. Have fished with mine in the Baltic Sea and North Atlantic. Fished all day in cold driving rain. Guidwear is the best deal I have made over the years, I personnaly like the Jacket because it is less bulky and never had a problem with a lack of protection. Plenty of room for gloves, facemask, etc.
