I had a guy tell me he was able to fish a tournament with a pro for a $500 entry fee . Is this true and if so I would like some info for the mid west area. Thanks,

The RCL is a $500.00 entry fee. You fish with the pros, and if your lucky, you take home some cash, and ton of good memories!
You can find all the info for the RCL at www.flwoutdoors.com or go to the tournament page here at Walleye Central and click on the RCL logo.

according to the rules you have to own a Ranger, Lund or Crestliner boat, hence the name RCL. What if a person prefers a better boat system???
Thanks,

Randy,
Only the "PRO" has to own a Ranger, Crestliner, or Lund.
The "Co-Angler" can own ANY type of boat, or NO boat. There are bonus dollars available on the Co-Angler side if you happen to own one of the RCL boats, and I believe a motor bonus depending on if you own the right one based on the sponsorship.
I fished the Erie RCL as a Co-Angler last year and it was a great experience.
The original post was asking about entering as an amatuer (co-angler in RCL terms). If your comment about preferring another boat was directed to entering on the Pro side - it's pretty simple. Along with Walmart - Ranger, Crestliner, Lund and the other sponsors are putting up the money. Their game - their rules. There are more than a few pros that switched to RCL boats in order to fish the RCLs. There are also some anglers that fish as pros in other circuits that have fished as co-anglers in RCL events to get in the game.
Good Luck,
Steve

There is also the PWT. The entry fee is $575.00 for 3 days of fishing with a different pro each day.
www.professionalwalleyetrail.com will give you the schedule and all the information you need.
Good Luck - Which ever you choose - Just have fun fishing!!

One little difference between the PWT and the RCL Vickie, is that the RCL is the only one that the Am's fish for $$$. PWT is prizes.
By the way, Good Luck in the PWT event at Leech lady! Kick some butt, and most of all have FUN!!!

Juls -
I realize the difference in the RCL and PWT for amateurs but the Leech Lake tournament was the one that worked out the best for me in schedule/location.
Thanks.

I WONDERED where the heck they got that name!!!! PWT = Professional Walleye Trail. I figured RCL had to mean something like that. Dummy me. DUHHHH.

Vickie,
I'm sorry, I think you misunderstood my intent with my last post to you. I was simply stating that, because the original poster was inquiring about tournaments where the "am's fish for money". That's all. The PWT is still an awesome event and I don't mean to discredit it at all. You just might see me fishing one this year on the am side...I just haven't made up my mind yet...;-)
I would really like to fish the PWT at Erie this year, but if I don't make up my mind soon, I just may not be able to get in! They fill up fast. I've got other things to take care of first, before I can commit to it.

I took his post to ask if there were any tournaments out there where he could PAY $$ to fish with a pro. I guess he could have as easily been asking if there are any tournament that you could fish with a pro and WIN $$.
Either way on this board he'll get the answers to any and all of his questions. :) Won't he.
Thanks for the e-mail. I truly appreciate the advise.
