HI Group-

Just moved to Michigan from twin cities to take a job near Detroit. I've done a fair amount of walleye fishing in MN, but don't know a thing about this part of Mi. My closest lake is Lake St. Clair and I've heard it's good for 'eyes. Would like to get out this weekend if the weather cooperates. Any tips or general areas? I've read that there is good fishing in the St, Clair river too, but I'd rather hit the lake. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks.

get yourself a "hotspots" map. it has alot of good info and areas. like the dumping grounds just up from the detroit river. the delphine channel to the west of their. the mile roads (actually you can troll long distances doing the mile roads). the 400 apts. anchor bay (which is mostly shallow). inline keel sinkers 1/4 to 1 once should cover all your needs for pulling harnesses. both the detroit and st clair rivers can be more consistant if you like jigging and the weather hinders fishing the lake.
also join the st clair walleye assoc. you'll get lots of good info and updates as to where/when etc.
hope that helps

ebijake has given you some good locations to hit once the weather and water warms a little more. your best bet to get fish right now is to hit the north channel at deckers landing (a restaurant with dockage on the channel). there are a couple of ramps close by. handlining and jigging. there's some deep water there so bring your biggest jigs.

Thanks for the tips guys. I did do some jigging over the weekend when the lightning passed! Picked up a couple of decent fish. Planning to hit the lake later this week!

Thanks again.
