View Full Version : If you had only one means for catching walleye what would that be no matter where you fish?

I voted for trolling but while trolling I use either a jig or a live bait rig.

I'm certain there would be many variations. Do you snap jig while trolling.
How about casting structure? It takes a little more work, brain power and skill, but the rewards are great!

Casting structure is a very effective way to put fish in the boat. I prefer to catch fish through different cadence until you find the one that works. Excellent choice

Looks like a tight race

I start out just dragging the jig on various line lengths. If that does nothing then I'll try sweeping the jig in a stop and go presentation. If still nothing then I hop it along the bottom. And if THAT doesn't work then I get the stick of dynamite out of my tackle box and really wake those fish up!

Jigging through the ice. Tops in my book

That is awesome there is nothing like jigging thru the ice, especially when you on the rise and feel the weight.
I like the degree of finess in jig fishing vs the sudden strike on a plug. The other nite when it was getting dark wading, I was getting funny bounces on the jig and so when the line was straight down, I let it stay there for a while and the line began to move sideways. Fish on with only 3' of line off the tip. Doesn't get any better than that.
