Is anyone having problems with the Sahara 1500 reels? I bought 3 in Febuary and after a couple of times, out bails not closing when handle is turned and one reel seems like the bearing are seezed. So I guess Bass Pro will be getting them back. I thought they seemed smooth in the store.:(

I have 10 of them and so far have had no problems but thanks for the heads up. I bought them last year so I've had them awhile now.

One pointer you may want to consider, try closing the bail by hand all the time. It helps cut down on the line twist with spinning reels. Did you ever dunk the reel that seems to have seized up on you? You may want to try and take it apart and clean it. Now that I fish saltwater a lot since I moved to TX, I take my spinning and casting reels apart on a regular basis to clean them. It is a must down here, even with expensive SS ball bearing equipment. Buy yourself a can of Blakemore Reel Magic to spray on your reels as well. It helps a lot.

I bought two Sahara's last year and have the same problem, the bail doesn't always close when to turn the handle and if you don't notice it, the bail will open next time you go to set the hook

should not need to be taken apart and cleaned because they are brand new and I had this problem from the first time I used them.

I went back to Quantum's as I have never had a problem with a Quantum reel, I replaced the two Sahara's with Quantum Icon's and love them, smooth, great drag etc..

After reading the other post here I will say that I do (always have) closed the bail by hand on spinning reels.
