Does anyone have experiences with Ram rod holders for pulling dipseys? Are they strong enough to withstand pulling dipsey's for walleye and salmon?

Thanks,
Jose`

I use the Ram 2000 rod holders for pulling in line boards, 3 ways, snap weights, and bottom bouncers. I have had no problems with them, and like the way they sit high on the gunnel. I have had some of the other types, and feel these are all-around a better holder.

They are strong enough to keep 30# catfish from ripping 8' to 10' heavy cat rods from them, even in heavy river currents.

So I would say they can handle a dipsy with ease as fast as you can work them.

I use them and love them for all by boat rod applications.

A Great rod system!

Howdy
I use the RAM Tubes & the original RAM rod holders to pull big dipseys on Erie. Never a problem on walleye & steelhead.

Jose, This question has come up before and I didn't recall anyone testifying that a RamRod 2000 would stand up to a 30lb+ King striking zero stretch line like PowerPro while trolling dipsys at 3MPH. It just seems like that would be the ultimate abuse. There is no doubt that Ram makes some of the best rod holders out there, however I'm not 100% confident in the RamRod 2000 in the above application. This is not based on personal experience, so I could be completely wrong. Another post mentioned the Ram-Tube and that would seem more appropriate for salmon anyways. Now, with walleyes, RamRod may be the best out there!

TBO have you tried the RAM spotlight system yet?

I really like the RAM's diversity for everything, rods, electronics, you name it, day or night it makes things much easier to manage.

I and was wondering how well the new RAM spotlight punches a hole through night fog and how much amp draw it pulls?

Anybody?

Thanks,

In the application for kings, the true test there would be the reel, not the holder. With no stretch lines, the reel drag is important component. I would have 100% confidence in these rod holders, set the drag right, and the holders will only have to hold the rod, not fight the fish....

Eddy,

I have a ram mount ball screwed into the handle of my 2 million CP light, that I use with the socket clamp that I put on a ball fastened to the electronics locker on my Lund. This allows me to run the boat and still have the spot light easily at hand. Works well. I am not sure about the RAM spot light.....My spot light is a Vector/2 million CP...an that baby will burn a hole in a brick wall....hahahaha

I have limited experience pulling big dipsy's on 10ft rods with RAM 2000's (20 Hrs.) I never felt my gear was in jeopardy.
