I need a little help on putting some spinners together. I an using 2 hooks and have never tried this before. I have made many with just one hook. So what is the best way and what kind of knot?
The knot page give me no help.:-(

Snell the hook as normal. Position the hook where you want it in correlation w/ the other one. When you go to tighten the knot pull enough tag end out so your able to snell a second, then grab the hook w/ pliers or forceps; pull the tag end, hook & the line above the hook all @ the same time. Once snugged in place, hold the line above the hook & pull the hook itself down away from where your holding the main line (meaning pull the hook down so as to tighten the knot). I tie all my spinners this way, broke the line but have never broken the knot. Hope this makes sense to ya.

Do you have a link to a snell page?

You can give the one on my site a shot. It works well.

Below is shown a modified snell knot, the one before the video is a whipper knot (fly fisherman).

Let me give this a try.
Snell your first hook as you normally would do. Cut the line a few inches longer than you want the spinner to be. Now thread the long end of the line through the eye of the hook and slide it down to where you want it above the first hook. Hold the crook end of the hook and the line to the first hook between your thumb and forefinger. Take the long line in your other hand, starting at the eye wrap the line around the shank moving from the eye toward the crook, don't overlap the wraps, make about seven wraps. Move the finger holding the hook a little forward so they are now holding the wraps as well as the hook. Now take the line and pass it through the eye going away from the hook. Pull the knot tight. If I explained this correctly thats all there is to it.

The walleyes inc. method is definitely the easiest. As long as you use good quality line, it will hold just like the harder to tie snell.

There are articles and drawings for harnesses and snell knot tying on my group site at http://groups.msn.com/McQonFishing

Click on the menu item "Library" in the menu bar.

Because of the MSN deal you have to register with your passport or hotmail account to access the documents but I'm sure you will find it worthwhile. I illustrate the commercial method of tying snells which is by far the best knot going. Be sure to expand the page to full size to get the full benefit of the illustration.

I run spinners all year long. I tie exactly as mentioned. Make sure you use 10 LB Maxima line for stained water and though rock, weeds, timber and a good flourocarbon (siglon or seagar) for clear water. I use vmc hooks. Gammy's are good too.
