I kinda like the sound of this dual beam deal

are they fairly easy to use? I have little patience for learning complicated gadgets

what kinda money does an edge run?

thanks

In my opinion, the Edge 2 by Vexilar is the best unit on the market. I have used it for the last 2 seasons, after using several other units, and this one out performs them all. It is simple to use, and you have two units in one. The unit sells for $699., a little spendy, but worth every cent. Check it out at... www.vexilar.com

I have had one since they first came out. Awesome unit and very user friendly. If you have any other questions about anything I would be glad to answer them. My email is Fishin_123@hotmail.com

Great unit that is very easy to use. Adjust all of your preferred settings and they will stay set...even after you turn it off/on.

The 400 khz side is like a magnifying glass.

Do any of you guys use this up front and mount the 'ducer on your TM? Also, how does the screen look on sunny days?

Thanks in advance,
mlc

You can do that, but if you do it is better to add the splitter and the 3rd transducer so you can switch it back when you need to.

The 2 working together side by side on the transom allows you to get the whole story on the same exact areas, the cones overlap. If you split them up you loose this ability to discern bumps from fish in the same exact area.

By adding the 3rd option you can place the additional finer or wider aspect transducer up front for detailed in there face work without loosing the peek function of the unit.

Either way you change the function of the unit but you have gained more options at your command with the switch-able 3 system.

Very cool option, and highly functional.

Or put a FL-8 or FL-18 up front and work, leave the EDGE to do it's job back there, I plan to do one or the other myself in 2002. You could add them both using the 3 ducer system depending on where you place the switch unit. Again more cool options.

You can get a special T-motor bracket that will hold both transducers.

The screen works great in bright sun.

That's right, yet another option.

I forgot about the adaper bracket so you can place them both on the electric. Thanks for pointing that out BadFinger.

Too bad that so far Minkota has not made the new motor with the trancducer Vexilar friendly. If they have I have not seen it on their site yet?

Thanks for the input guys. I've already got a X85 at the console with 2 'ducers on the transom. I need to add a fishfinder on the bow in the next few weeks. The 'ducers would be mounted on a Minnkota 60 PD.

Thanks again,
