Leeches eat rarely, if you are keeping leeches for an extended period the best thing is fresh water. Leeches lose approximately 15% of body size in the first few weeks after capture. Sucks for us. Trying to feed them you may run into problems with bacterial growth. If you want to try to feed them try worms or snails and other options are fresh cuts of meat IE liver or kidneys. Leeches don't need a lot of water to live either. As long as it is clean and cold and dechlorinated they do fine. Good luck and Good fishing.

Happy Hook Sets,

I say, I an zee French Chef for the Leechy types, no?
I cook the many meals for the small little wiggly ones. My little leech freinds, they are very fat, yes?
I feed za Leeches Patte Fua Gras, Pheasant under glass, Sweet breads, Glazed Chicken livers with Sorrel Mushroom and Pinot Noir Demi Glaze, Satueed carcass of road kill in an Anchovy paste Gravy, Boiled, whatever I find floating dead, fish with Oven browned potatoes. It sounds so good, I could eat it myself, yes?
If I am in such the hurry, I just give them some Big Macs, Pizzas, pretzels, Nachos(hold Le Peppers), Cold Consume, Chicken Nuggets and Tuna Salad Sammiches.
Bon Apetit! Oui Oui.
