What is the better way to go for a Lorance gps that will only be used on the water,(fishing or pleasure)? The download software by Lorance or the HotMaps by Navionics? Which one has the most detail and info.?

Hotmaps for sure.
All you get with MapCreate is lake outlines, and a few features. NO depths. Hotmaps gives you depths, etc.
Real nice for roads, points of interests, etc. But for lakes it wont help you much.
Lowrance does make some lake maps, but I have no idea what those are like. I assume you are asking about MapCreate, which is the most popular Lowrance software.
