When I decided to start running three way rigs I never imagined this would happen. This year I have started running a kicker spoon (scorpion) with my Hot-n-Tots. It has worked out well, sometimes I get them on the spoon and sometimes on the hot-n-tot.

Yesterday on Saginaw bay, we had a rod pull bag in the rod holder. My brother-in-law grabbed the rod and instantly said, "This is a nice one!!" I always asked "Can you feel the hot-n-tot". This lets me know what to expect when the fish comes to the boat. He couldn't feel the tot.

As it got near the boat, I could see him on the tot. He was around 18", so I started to razz him a little. Yes an 18" walleye is nice, but not a trophy like he thought.

As I netted the fish and was bringing him into the boat, I looked back for the spoon so I could keep it away from the prop. To my surprise, I could see another white flash. No Way! Could we have caught two walleyes on one pole? I know they are part of the perch family, but come on. Well, I can report, it can happen. I quickly through the first walleye in the boat, and was able to land the second. So I guess a 36" catch is a trophy!!

Oh yeah, we managed to bring home 13 nice walleyes and we caught a lot of nice small walleyes. Looks like Saginaw may be healthy after all.

Congrats on your catch! Isn't that fun? ;-)

It's not that unusual though. When they are hungry, they go nuts.
While fishing on the Detroit River two years ago, my partner actually caught two nice eyes on the back treble hook of his crankbait, belly to belly!
