I would appreciate any input on locating Rod socks, or any other ideas to keep my lockers from turning into a Fireline spiderweb. I have 20 different rod/reels that just love to "mesh". Thanks...

Cabelas has some good rod socks. I think they are $3.99 each if you buy 4 or more. I keep 20+ rods in the locker with no tangles with them.

I've ordered and am using the ones out of Bass Pro catalog. they are made of a good heavy nylon with a solid elastic strap(about 1" wide) to go around the reel. The longest rod I have used them on is an 8'6" telescoping trolling rod that is about 7' when broken down and they fit fine on it. For $3-$4 each dependant on how many you buy, I don't think you can go wrong. Give them a try..

Definitely go BPS. Unless Cabela's has changed their sock this year they are not adjustable for length like the BPS sock.

I haven't tried the BPS ones, but the description that RDJ left exactly describes the ones I got from Cabelas last year and again this year. I did have one that didn't fit well, I was putting it on a 5'6" rod, I tied a knot in the elastic to shorten it and it works fine.

I also got some from another source that were made of a much thinner material and used velcro to fasten, the rods tended to poke through the ends. I'm much happier with the Cabelas ones, although I'm sure the BPS ones work fine also.

Yup, gotta have em to avoid a mess. Sometimes we put two rods in one sock. I put my two bottom bouncer rigs in one and so does my partner. Then we dont have to search for the other rod. To adjust length you can either tie a knot in the elastic or even on the top of the sock to shorten it.

Sorry, I did leave out the feature of adjustable strap length on the BPS rod socks I've bought. I haven't seen the cabela's one so I'm not familiar with their features. See ya....RJ..

If your wife sews, like mine does, then rod socks are no problem. I went to the fabric store and bought some heavy ripstop nylon fabric. I think this cost me $5.99 per yard,we got 2 yards, some elastic for about $4.00/. With this material we made 7 rod socks. They are heavy duty, well made, and only cost about $2.25 apiece. Done deal........
We have made many, many more since, and they have cost much less, we bought the fabric on sale for as little as $1.99 per yard.

Dutchman, the absolute best product comes from Anglers Pride, owners Jerry & Kay Tipping. I have owned the Cabela's product and the Anglers Pride Cover-It Tackle products are of superior quality. If I remember correctly their cost for the socks were about $4 each. Kay even specially made :) some rod socks for my 7' 10" rods trolling rods at the same cost as their standard stock items. Contact Kay at 608-868-9122, website anglerspride.com or e-mail at them walleye@anglerspride.com In addition to the rod socks for fishing rods, they make a quality tackle wrap for securing crankbaits and bottom bouncers. They provided me great service, so I recommended them to a number of my friends and no one has been disappointed.

I second the rod socks from Angler's Pride. I prefer them over the ones I bought from Cabela's. Great product and customer service.

Another thumbs up for the Angler's Pride socks! I've tried several brands, including Cabelas, and like AP socks the best.
