I hear fish are being caught near Luna Pier. Can anyone provide more details and comment on the launching options there?
there is a ramp on the south side of luna pier, but i've never used it. i always launch at bolles harbor on la plaisance rd. the dnr launch there is one of the best and there is deep water for big boats. on a cautionary note, if you launch there run all the way to the last channel bouy before you turn. there is shallow water on both sides in close to shore. there is a good bait shop on each side of the road just past the road to the launch.

jake,
do you know if the fish get in close enough for me to take my 15' tiller out there? I am well aware of the need for perfect weather and would not go far off shore in any waether. I'm dying to go fishing but there's only bass in my lake...

it always bothers me to see small boats on erie, just because the weather can change so fast. that said, if things are "just right" you'll be ok. the reports i heard for that area had the fish in and around 15 fow. thats only a couple miles out. be carful and good luck.

I know people do it all the time, its the changing weather that worries me. a couple of miles is too far for for this boat with me in it!
i guess i'll have to come up with another spot to try out, or a bigger boat(not likely).
thanks,
jerry

Luna pier has a good place to launch. They also have bait & will help put you on to fish.
Also a nice fish cleaning hut. CLEAN RESTROOMS
No real wait to launch.
