Looking for an item I saw some where. A rectangular floating minnow net type mesh basket. It is used to keep minnows in you large live well. It is maybe a foot or two long and about ten inches wide. keeps your minnows lively and apart from other fish in livewell. Good way to keep minnows alive over night in the livewell with the recirculator running. Wouldn't work in a normal baitwell.

I'm not sure I know what you're talking about, but I can recommend another product that I think you will like. Its the bait tamer from JNB Originals. It sounds kind of like what you are looking for. except this will fit in bait wells. Its a mesh bag and it will float. I have had one for a while and I really like it alot. you can look at them at their website www.driftbag.com or look at your local bait shop for them. Hope this helps! Good luck on the water!

I gave this idea out as a suggestion to save some money on one offered at the tackle shop.

I found it listed in the field tips (on main page) and it is the fourth item from the bottom titled minnow aerator. Give it a try but I have never had any luck with this item and fish in the same livewell. The walleye dorsal fin will tangle up with the bottom of the netting and create a mess.

I use this item as a large minnow net. All minnows are in this little floating type net and if you would like a specific minnow, pick up the entire net and select your minnow. If minnow size is not critical a small minnow net left in the big minnow net is all you need to catch the bait.

What works for me is to leave this item in the 9 gallon livewell in the back of my boat and I keep the fish in the 30 gallon livewell up front. Want to keep minnows overnight or two for next trip. Keep both livewells full on the trip home and then I store them in the big livewell with aerator running. If you spill some water out of both livewells on the way home fill the large livewell with water from the small livewell. Hope this helps. If you have a little time on your hands and the wife or you can do the stitching, it is a creative way to enjoy your sport.

questions? ask em here or email me. My email addy should be at the end of the field tips article. Use .net instead of .com though!!

My wife and I have made four of them to date and have two more ready and waiting for the stitching. We have passed them out to fishing buddies and they are very handy.

Although Mike Peluso has a post that contains an item similar but has a velcro closure which would make it available to put in with fish if you have only one livewell. Check out his post: the new Bait Tamer: I just bumped it to the top of page one for you so you can find it. The only negative to the new bait tamer is that it has a velcro closure(I think) and will have to use both hands to open it, one hand to reach bait with my design. Good luck
