Maybe someone here can give me some information on the Raytheon 45 VHF Radio.

I think I have decided on this radio and I am also getting a Shakespeare 5102 8' 6dB antenna to go with it.

Is the Ray 45 a good radio? will It scan all the channels? and does it have a programmable scan?

Is the antenna a good match for this radio?

Thanks for the information guys, I really appreciate it!

The Ray 45 is a good vhf for the money. Very durable and waterproof. It will monitor ch 16 and one other chanel but no programable scan. No scan at all. The ray 53 is a better bet for scan features. It also has DSC but you probably have no need for that feature. The two radios have the same power. My choice for antenas is still the short glass 1/2 wave one from Digital Antena.

Hope this helps
