has anybody used circle hooks on crawler harnesses? how do they compare with using tripple grip treble hooks for good hook sets? also what size hooks. some people say to use a # 4 up front and a # 6 in the rear. any imformation will be helpful. thanks in advance.

I have not tried cirle hooks on spinners but have used them on perch rigs. I have also used them on tuna and dorado.
I made one mistake. Some circle hooks are made with offset points. (The points are twisted to the side and are not parallel to the shank.) The offset hooks tend to snag gills and other areas in the throat.
Straight point circle hooks will catch them in the corner of the mouth 80% of the time.
I believe they would work well on spinners when trolling.

Spinner I have been using circle hooks for the past season on Spinner rigs. I have hooked up 24 fish in a row with out losing any. All were hooked in the corner of the mouth and this includes Walleyes, Northerns and Smallmouth. The secret is not to set the hook. Slowly reel in and the fish is always hooked in the corner of the mouth

I started using them last year and my perceptions are the same as yours. I don't feel that they are the "sliced bread" of the fishing world but they certainly have a place, now, in my tackle! I do like them, though!
