Guys, anyone know of a better lure than the rapala series. Or a place to get them cheaper? I want to stock up on a few hundred dollars in tackle, but would like to get more bang for my buck. Raps are like 5-10 a pop range, so if anyone recommends anything better/or a place to buy cheap raps PLEASE LET ME KONW!!!!

I'll tell you but you've got to promise to keep it a secret! Ok?...Ok. Try Reef Runnrs. Tune them precisly, and you'll be a member of the brotherhood.

Depends which rapalas you're talking about. For long baits I also like rattlin Rogues and thundersticks. For shorter baits there's the Walleye Divers, Reef Runners, CC Shads, Grapplers, etc. They'll all catch fish. Sometimes better than rapalas, sometimes equally and sometimes less.

nowadays its hard to find do-it-all baits. I can vouch for the fish catching ability of rogues, thundersticks, raps, bombers, reef runner ripsticks, ripshads, deep lil rippers, hot n tots, kabooms, etc....

the thing is they all seem to be in pretty much the same price range....though i do know where you can get hot n tots for cheap if you don't mind paintin em yourself.

I would suggest looking into Dave's KaBoom Lures. I have had great success with them and they are priced right. You could very easy spend a few hundred and get everything you could ever want.

I will echo what Borch said on the product Pradco line.

Bomber Long A's and Bomber divers, Roughs, Tad Polly's, Wally Minnows and Wally Divers are all very good choices, and economical. A quality line at a fair price in my opinion. I have caught a heap of fish on there lures!

A tip is look for end of season clearances now underway at many large retailers. They clear shelf space for hunting gear, a good time to stock up Eh. You can stock up at a reduced rate and gain a few extra lures in the process.

Reef Runners, Rogues, Storm, Bombers, etc...

All tend to be less than Rapalas and will produce as well or better in my experience.

The only Rapala I still keep stocked up on is the JSR 4 for pulling the trees in shallow water, they don't hang up like a lot of other lures. I've quit buying Shad Raps altogether and if I need a shad bait that looks like a Rapala I use the CC Shad or Shad R from Rebel.
