I got a phone call the other day from Lowrance telling me that they had an sonar update for my LCX-19c unit, and they gave me the address and RA# for sending it in.

Has anyone here also recieved a simular call, and if so, what are the updates they are doing?

Are you having problems seeing the screen in the sun??? I know that was an update. I THINK the one I have had been updated before I got it I hope. They were charging 99 bucks to fix the problem. Keep us informed. Skeeter

Use the WALLEYE CENTRAL BUSINESS DIRECTORY under marine supplies, it works!

I know it wasn't the screen. I asked when they called and they said they could do that also, but it would cost $100. No, this was a sonar deal, and it was free.

I'll call tomarrow and get the scoop, and let you know.

I received a call from Lowrance on Sept 6 offering a free upgrade. Which was odd since I had just received back the 19C from Lowarance less than 2 weeks before so that I could read the latest Navionics Chips. Anyway, I was told the upgrade was FREE and included the latest sfw, which I think was 1.8, AND a sonar upgrade. The lady who called could not elaborate on what the sonar enhancements were. She only insisted it was not part of any standard sfw upgrade. I haven't sent the unit in as I like for Lowarnce sfw to be field delieved for some time before I put it on my 19c or 15MT. The fact that she could not answer my question makes me all the more un-easy.....54

Brian in the electronics department at our local sporting goods store said that Lowrance has a spot on their internet site that will tell you if your perspective piece of electronics has an update available by model number. He told me if my x-19 has an update to bring it in, he can do it at the store for free. I suppose anyone can go to their site and download the info themselves if they know how. Check the model of your piece of equipment and compare to the one on the website to see if yours is up to date. Skeeter

I just did a download from the Lowrance website the other day for my 18c it was fairly easy, I used the blank chip that came with the unit and the download to the unit took all of 20 seconds. I had to do the download to get a new Navonics chip to work. Lowrance will also send you a chip with the download for small fee (you have to send the chip back within 30 days). The website will tell you what the download will do to improve your unit.

Just got off the phone with Lowrance. The update they called me about is to install a diode which will improve the sonar picture. It is suppose to give me a better picture. They will also check and bring me up to date with any other updates I might be missing. The only one I've had installed was this spring which allows the SOG on the GPS to read below 1.2mph.

I think I still am running the 1.2 system????

Anyone know what the current system is they are running today?

If you go to your unit, hit menu twice, go to system set-up, then go to software information. This will tell you what version you are using.

This is the information that I was telling you about related to the download that I did last week. This is the new operating system.
Software version 1.8.0 update for the GlobalMap® 4000M, GlobalMap® 5000C, GlobalMap® 6000C, GlobalMap® 7000C, LCX-104C, LCX-18C, and LCX-19C is available for download as of August 31, 2004.

Since this is only about a month old I would doubt that you have the most recent software system.

Replacing a diode would explain why the normal sfw upgade process would not include this physical change/upgrade. Thanks for the clarification JLDII ! Bryan
