I bought a small spool of "hi-vis yellow" and upon examining it found the color is essentially white. I'm surprised because this stuff accepts color very readily compared to some of the other lines I've experimented with lately (e.g., fireline).
Is this just the way it is or did I get a bad batch color-wise?
How does this line track depth-wise with fireline of equivalent diameter for trolling?
Based on my informal tests, this stuff doesn't stretch very much. Relative to what's out there today, how "low stretch" is it?

No stretch.
The color can fade, but you can take a marker and make it whatever color you want.
Here is a tip:
Buy a jar of Chartreuse Spike It and saturate a sponge with it (small sponge) and then tie your line to something and put out a couple hundred feet and color the line with the Chart Spike It.
Try it, you might just like it.
The diameter dive curve thing with the braid is a tough one because it is not exactly 8# dia like in the trolling book. You should mic the line in some spots and see what you come up with, you might be surprised. If I am not mistaken it is something between 8 and 10 mono.
Good luck,

I agree with Mex-very low stretch (I think about 4%) but way less that any mono. Take it easy on the drag and don't pump the rod or horse fish in. Reel slow/staedy. Also agree on the dive curves. It seems like it's pretty close to 10lb mono to me-maybe because of the texture of the line causing a little added resistence over similar size mono? Maybe someone has a "higher tech" answer than that!

Thanks guys!
It sounds like you are referring to 30lb Power Pro comparing to something between 8-10 lb mono?
Would it be reasonable to guess that say 15 lb Power Pro might compare to something between 4-6 lb mono, or is it fairly independant of diameter?
MexicoNM, I'm unfamiliar with the term 'mic'. It sounds like it is some way to verify the depth a bait is running at?
As far as the color goes, it is not a big deal in-and-of-itself. I was just surprised that a brand new spool would be so "faded" compared to the pretty advertising pictures. For what I want to do I'm mainly concerned with the line being light enough to see the dark marks I intend to put on it periodically in lieu of springing for a line counter reel I'll be lucky to use once every couple years. I'll look into the Spike It product, I like the idea of a good cast's length being obnoxiously bright.
Tim, your theory about the braid not cutting the water as cleanly as mono or fireline makes perfect sense to me!

Yes

Yes, but again I would use a micrometer (mic) to compare the diameter.
mic the line means measure the diameter with a micrometer. Kinda like a small c-clamp that measures the thickness of stuff.
He's suggesting you check several spots to determine if the diameter is consistent or to come up with an average/mean.

Okay I'm embarassed. Should have figured that out from the context. Thanks.
