Does anyone have any info on the old perch head boat the Wanel that used to go out of Cleveland and maybe Huron, Ohio

I remember the boat well. It was docked at the foot of E. 9th St. where Capt. Franks restaurant used to be. They used old bus seats from CTS (now RTA) and it was first come first served. If you got there early and helped the capt. load the seats on the boat, your trip was free. I'm not sure if he provided the bait, but he had plenty of beer (Pabst Blue Ribbon) that he sold. It was more of a day out to party on the lake with the guys. Usually the boat was packed with guys and tangled lines were always a problem. but the guy did put us on perch. And in those days there were no fish finders. It was all in the capt.'s head. I miss those days. That was back in the 70's-80's.

Lake Michigan used to have head boats also. But with the new limits, they died out.
