I'm looking at a new order of Deep Little Rippers. What kind of luck have you guys had with the new prism colors? Are they out producing the other go-to colors.

Not sure which "new" ones you are looking at, but on Erie this year the Purple Prism was outstanding. Later in the year the Orange/Chartruse was good and the Blue/Orange had good days too.

FreeByrd, Yes those are the colors that I wanted a report on. I believe the numbers on the prism colors are as follows:
#101 Purple Prism, #102 Blue Orange Prism, #103 Black Silver Prism, #104 Black Gold Orange Prism, #105 Blue Chart Orange Prism and #106 Orange Chart Green Prism. They look good, just wanted to make sure they catch fish. Are there any other newer colors that I should consider? TIA

There will be 2 new Prism colors for 2005 from Xtreme Tackle.
Lava (Red/Gold/Orange) Rainbow Trout Prism (Blue/Pink and a little Purple) Not sure on the release date yet.
The 2004 colors worked. Purple was a very good color.
Good Luck

Hogslammer,
All of the ones you mentioned caught fish for me on Erie this year - the purple one was the best for me overall but that is probally because that is what I had in the water the most...LOL!

A relatively new color this year that worked in the fall here on Erie is Salamander (black with green dots).

I saw one of the prototypes for the new rainbow trout prism that Ed mentioned and it is a great looking lure (at least to me - I'm sure it will be to the walleye too...)

All I will say is that the purple prizm is the first color on in my Trolling spread followed by the orange/chartruese.

I used the Black/Silver Prism this year on several occasions. I was fortunate enough to catch some nice fish on them too! Purple and black will be my leader for the spring.

For anyone thats interested, Reef Runner has all there new and updated colors now on there website. Shortly you will be able to order directly from the site. There are some great looking new colors, just in time for spring. The new prism colors worked great for me this fall here on Erie.

after being a first mate on a charter boat in lake erie we all have our favorite lures, my 3rd favorite is the reef runner deep lil ripper, i have tried those new prism colors you guys are talking about, im not a big fan of them, dont get me wrong, i did catch a good number of fish on them but colors "cheap sunglasses", "purple demon" and "eriedesciance" outfished the prism colors id say 4-1. let me know if anyone feels the same

my top 2 favorite lures to use on erie are spoons, preferably michigan stinger's, ( 3 3/4inch) colors monkey puke, shrimp, confusion, green puke, and freezer burn. i also like worm harnesses, any color but watermelon was the ticket last year, also anything with pink and green (big willow leaf blades).

Gju42486 I was wondering where you buy Michigan stingers and your colors are these spoons if so where do I BUY them? Do you fish these spoons mostly upper halve of water column? and are they tipped with a crawler? What line and how much out?speed? I never ever fished spoons before and would like to learn. You seem like you do good I've always wanted to know how. I fish Lake OAHE S.D. any help would be greatly appreciated! THANKS Walleyetipton

hey walleyetipton, i buy most of my spoons from cabela's. they seem to have most of the "popular" colors, like i said, my favorite colors for erie seem to be shrimp, blueberry muffin, monkey puke, watermelon, freezer burn, blue rasberry, and mayfly seem to come on strong last year, because it resembles a goby. as far as depth goes, we fish mostly in about 70-80 foot of water but most fish are suspended in about 50. we run the spoons behind dipsy divers at different setbacks depending on where the fish are, i hope this answers your question, e-mail me at lilbass2@aol.com if you want to talk more on this subject
