I was wondering about the general opinion of these (hydrofoil etc) if you think they help or hurt your boat's performance? Why wouldn't manufacturers build them on their motors or is it they might work on some boats and not on others (or do they work at all?)
It made a tremendous difference in the hole shot on our Triton 189. We can get up on plane much quicker. It also allows us to stay on plane at slower speeds. I couldn't tell much of a difference on top end performance, didn't really seem to bother to much.
Whether you need one or not probably depends on the boat, motor and setup.

I had a 16 ft lund w/ a 45 tiller on it-no t&t. Took about a half mile to get the thing on plane with one guy in the boat. Put the hydro-foil on and then it took about 100 ft. loved it.
