Has anyone tried it? I want to put a braid on one of my baitcasters and I have heard Ripcord works well for baitcasting reels.

I use ripcord on my line counters for trolling. Used it all last season with no problems. I fill the reels full and then cut off a few feet every week or so (fish 3 to 5 time per week) to do away with any potential damaged spots. 10#dia by 30# test i think.

I used ripcord two years ago, it fishes well and casts good. This line is alot like power pro. I chose power pro simply for convenience purposes.

I followed Dean's Advise and put it on Two Diawa SG27LC for trolling.
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it.
I think it was like the 40lb test/10lb Diameter, so I can use the Precision Trolling guide.
I've purchased two spools of RipCord. The first spool was 50# RipCord I bought several (6,7,8?) years ago (when it first came out). I used it on L. Michigan for bouncing one pound lead balls in 100' for lakers (on a large spinning reel). It worked great. I transferred it to one of my musky rigs (6500-C3) and it casts just fine. I still have that line and it is still as strong as ever!
I bought my second spool 3 years ago - 50# RipCord Si - and put it on my other musky rod (another 6500-C3). It's still there and still in good shape. Your reel or rod will bust before RipCord will. Before RipCord, I would occasionally 'snap throw' a larger bait off my mono line (too lazy to retie, bad knot, whatever...). That has NEVER happened with RipCord.
So, for certain applications, I think you will be very happy with RipCord or any other similar super braid. The higher initial cash outlay is more than offset by the long life of the line. I still use mono on other rods for other applications, but I change some or all of it at least once a year. (usually twice).
This year, I'm trying some PowerPro (10/2, 20/6) to see how it compares to FireLine. After this summer, I'll give a report on how it works out.

I tried Ripcord several years ago and I had problems with 30 Lb line breaking too often in bass casting applications. It seemed to work well enough for live bait fishing.
I have since gone to Spider Wire for braided line.

Welcome from the State of Washington...where not many Walleye live but we are sure trying hard to catch the World Record! I personally use Power Pro and find that the larger diameter...50lb + works great on a baitcaster...10lb works fine on a spinning reel. All of my rods have Power Pro from Walleye to Steelhead/Salmon to Sturgeon. It is great stuff....hey?? Have you guys seen the knot tool that ties an absolutely awesome knot in braided line? In Power Pro 10lb test tied with this knot breaks between 17 and 19lbs...the line breaks not the knot! Go to: www.tie-master.com for more information.

Great line, I've used it for yours and have never had a problem what so ever. I vertical jig with the flo yellow 15#/2# diameter and love it. I troll with the 20#/5# diameter white line and love it. You just can't ware it out. I would highly recommend it!

I switched to the yellow 15/2 ripcord last season for jigging - simply awesome product. Much less memory than fireline. One thing - I did use Ripcord Si, the "slippery" model. You must use a back to back uni knot to tie direct to mono with this stuff.

Hi,
I have been using 20-5 Rip cord for the last 2 years using a spinning reel casting for Salmon at Rogers City -Swan Bay.I have not had any trouble casting into the wind and getting snarls.I can hear a loop in it some times when its going out but it doesn't snarl .I did break it trying to horse a fish in too fast.I use a Polmar Knot and a inproved cinch on top of it.

I use Cabela's Ripcord 30lb - 8lb dia. on all my trolling rods. This line has been on my reels for for four years, this summer will be the fifth season. Fish Lake Ontario for Salmon twice a year with same rods/reels. Great braided line, have had no problems. Good luck and good fishing.
