I am looking for information on fishing the Kenai river and surrounding area in Alaska (Cordova, Valdez, Homer). I would like the names of some "GOOD" guide services and outfitters. I'll be looking for Salmon and Halibut the last couple of weeks of June.
Thanks
Check out All Alaska Outdoors in Soldotna. They do a very good job. We have fished with them. They can set you up with just about any kind of fishing in fresh or saltwater. I fished with them for 7 days and everyday was a different adventure. Soldotna is near Kenai. You should narrow your preferences or really look around because Kenai is far from Valdez and Cordova is available by air. Good luck.

MNHunter,
It has been 4-5 years since I was last on the Kenai. The last 3 times we spent a week at Trophy King Lodge which is about 20 miles north of Homer right on Cook Inlet. (www.trophyking.com)
Trophy King is a salt water lodge, fishing 2 tides per day. They also offer river trips for an extra fee. Food and lodging was excellent, and fishing was fantastic. In the late June/early July timeframe they target the same King's that end up in the Kenai river. About 50% of the Salmon we caught were between 40-45lbs. 25% were over 50lbs and the rest were under 40lbs. Halibut ranged from 10 to 250lbs, with most people getting a least one "butt" over 75lbs.
As the salmon migrate back to the Kenai, they come very close to the shoreline anywhere fresh water dumps into Cook Inlet. When they are close to shore, they are easier to catch. There are 3-4 fresh water sources within a few miles of Trohpy King which makes salt water trolling very effective.
Also, check out www.alaskaoutdoorjournal.com. This is a great web site that has lots of info about lodging, charters, lodges, salmon runs charts, etc. The site covers all of Alaska, but has loads of info about the Kenai penninsula.
Tight Lines !!
