hey guys, i was suppose to leave for the united states coast guard in march, but it now has been moved to october to next year because they currently dont need people. I have been fishing lake erie ever since i was about 8 years old on charter boats, i was wondering if any captains on this board is in need of any help during the fishing season, cleaning fish, scrubbing boats, or just needs a first mate. Like i said i fished erie my whole life but all the captain i fished with dont really need any extra help,,,e-mail me at lilbass2@aol.com if you have any information, or know someone who might need help. thanks

I thought you were going to start your own charter business on Lake Erie from all the post you put up about it.

Probably did the math and found out being a charter captain on Lake Erie doesn't make you millions. You’re lucky to break even let alone make enough money to support yourself. It can be done but it's not easy. Try posting your first mate question on the Charter Boat Asso. Website. I forget the website , maybe someone else knows it, or just do a search. The east end of the lake I iamgaine has less captains than west end.

Good Luck!! And Pray for a slow warming, calm Spring for 2005 on Erie!

your right perchjerker, i am going to the coast guard first, i was suppose to leave in march but all of the dates for bootcamp are currently filled due to all the people wanting to join, so now i will not be going untill october. After the 4 years in the coast guard im going to run my own charter boat like you said, i might get it started while im in the guard, and have someone run it for me untill i get out,,im not sure yet, im only 18 now,,still have alot of life left in me.
