When tying braids and mono backing together what type of knot should I use? Also, when I start makeing my flourocarbon leaders what type of knot should I use here? I know the line has got to be real wet when using 25 lb test but not sure what the best knot to use with such a high pound test line.

I use either the Back To Back Uni knot or the Blood knot to join lines.

Blood's will work with 25 pound. I use them in poundages up to 40 when tying my own fly leaders.

two best knots for this purpose are the albright knot and the back to back uniknot.

Double uni-knots rule for this - if the diameteres are very different between the braid and the leader I use the spider hitch to double the thinner braid and prevent it from cutting through the leader. Be sure to wet the knot with flouro before you tie it. Chuckles

I use back to back Uni-Knot’s and if the braded lines diameter is ~ half (or less then half) the diameter of the mono, I’ll double the braided line to help prevent it from cutting through the mono.

Ristorapper, the blood knot isn’t all that bad but if you scroll down from your link to the Blood Knot to the next knot, The Uni-Knot, you’ll notice “A better join can be made using one of the Hangman's Knots, also known as the UniKnot.”

In any event, this url http://www.in-fisherman.com/magazine/guides/cg2003Sp_Uniknot/ is the best one I’ve found for explaining the benefits of using the Uni-Knot.
