I made some big boards last year out of cedar and made the mistake of painting them and not allowing them to ride low. I want more pull on them so does anyone have any suggestions of what I could do to achieve this??? I hate to mess with putting the time and money into another set.

Try using paint stripper on them. Most brands do a good job at getting the paint off.

get some stick on weights from a tire place and screw then to the bottom

I used a piece of 1/8" flat steel about a foot or so long. Had 1 on each board and found that was too much. One is just about right. Take them off and repaint them when they start to look yucky.:-)

I am not so sure you need more weight, I would get your boards back to plain wood. Maybe a strip of paint on top for visabilty. I made a set out of Cypress wood [ 42" ] Which is lighter then Ceder, an they pull great. I would try a different angle, just drill a couple extra sets of pilot holes an see what works best. Then again they may be to close together. Sorry, but my boards are on boat which is in shrink wrap mode or I might be able to help you more, but, I'm just guessing now, I think they are about 14" apart.
