View Full Version : X85 vs X65 - Front or dash

I have both. Just wondering which one I should mount up front by the Minn Kota and which one I should put on the dash. Maybe I'll mount them so I can swap them when necessary? Looking for recomendations from those who know. Thanks all.
I have both the X85 and X65 on my Lund 1660. I like the X65 on the bow with the transducer under the Minn Kota AP55 and the X85 on the console. Both are connected to the starting battery. Just my 2 cents.

Yep, that is the way mine are rigged 65 bow 85 console.

With the trolling motor your going to pick up some interference from the motor and I dont get as good detail. Me personally if Im up front, I know fish are there. Im more less keeping on a depth or structure.
I put the more powerfull unit on the dash as that is the main search engine and eyes. If I dont find fish, the trolling motor dont come down. I'll move up and down a spot, studying it, zoom on, placing a marker, etc. If I want better detail once up front, I swivel my dash unit around and read them both, that way Im covering 20'
I run an 85 up front and a 350 on the dash.
