I am considering purchasing a St. Croix Avid rod for live bait rigging the two rods I am considering are the 7'6" Medium Light extra fast action or the 7'6" Medium fast action. I would prefer the medium light power but I am unsure of the extra fast action for live bait rigging. What rod is going to be better for live bait rigging?

I'd go with the medium. I have a 7'6" medium premier and it's great for livebait rigging. I think the x-fast would be too stiff for my taste, but it's hard to say, a 7'6" x-fast isn't the same as a 6'0" x-fast, speed is relative to length. If you have the opportunity, get your hands on one of each and see which feels better.

Of the two...the ML.

I'd second the ML. I have the Avid and a Loomis GL2 HS9000 (about the same price as the Avid). Either one works excellent for rigging.

gah I didn't read that right, I was thinking they were both ML but one was fast and one was x-fast. Yeah I agree with those guys in that case.

You might check out the St.Croix web site for the description of their 2005 Blue Walleye Tournament rods:

These new rods are dialed in about as good as they come for walleye fishing.
