Most lakes I fish are churned up. Most are part of some river system in N. Wisconsin and N. Illinois. Lake Wisconsin, Chippewa Flowage, Moose Lake, Spider. ....etc. Fish mostly Walleye and Musky with cranks, jigging for Eyes'....I always am unsure of the color choice. I have the rods strung every other season on average so I don't change spools. What colors are recommended for these cloudy conditions? Trolling, jigging? Thanks...Hawg Tracker

For jigging I would deffintly go with a high-vis line, so that you can see those subtle ticks that comes with walleye fishing... but with trolling it really wouldnt matter color wise, but if you fish in an area with alot of stumps or rocks to snag on I would use mono that is tough like berkley XT.. I use leadcore alot and usually use a mono leader in 15 lbs XT.. Fireline is good if not alot of snags...DUDE

Don't the fish see hi-vis line?

Not in those conditions - use fireline flame green most of the summer wading for smallies here - when the water clears up in the fall then I add a stretch of flouro and that works fine too. Works for wallys too. Chuckles
I generally use High Vis line for all of my fishing in all of the waters that I fish.
Fish aren't brilliant.
How many fish are going to put together the fact that a juicy minnow, is being held by a fisherman on the top of the water by a high vis line - and not bite the minnow.

I imagine that there is an outside chance that a fish might get spooked now and then with a high vis line coming by, but in general that won't be the case.
If you fish gin clear water - in very high pressured waters - then You might want to think about some sort of less visable line for at least a 2-5 foot leader. Other than that I doubt very much that it makes any difference.

I have conducted random tests over the years- fishing one line with a clear line, one with a high vis line, and I have never been able to get a significan difference in the number of bites on one line or the other.

I agree with REW, I use HI viz line on everything. In ultra-clear water, I use a Sharpy marker to darken 18" - 24" of the line. Bob WC#253.
