Pinnacle silstar inertia imt-25 reel and a spx3 6.6 spinning rod . If anyone has used either of these spinning reels are rod I would appreciate your opinions on them. Thanks.
I own several models of the Pinnacle reels and find that generally they work very well.
Although, I do own a 25 sized reel, I seldom use it any more.
Over the years, I have gradually shifted to larger reels. With a larger reel, I can cast further and have larger loops coming off the spool, and thus have less line knots and twists.
If I do use the 25 sized reel, I generally use only 2 or 4 lb test line.
I have used 6, 8 and 10 lb line on this reel in years past but the line size gets to be pretty large for such a small spool.
Again, in general the Pinnacle rods represent a pretty good value. They are typically made well and are all right with respect to sensitivity. They did have a problem several years ago, where they had a problem with brittle graphite, and thus many rods broke near the tip.
However, this was only a one year occurance, and has not happened in the ensuring years.

For most walleye fishing, I generally prefer to use either the 30, 35 or now and then the 40 sized reels.
If I am running a float rod, and really want to whip out the line, I will generally use the 40 sized reel, simply because with the larger spool; I can cast the line further.
For typical jigging and lindy rigging, I will use the 30 or 35 sized reel.
Take care

p.s.
If you run your reel in cold weather - depending on the type of lubrication; you may need to change the lubrication in the reel.
Some of the Pinnacle reels; as was also the case for other manufacturers had issues with grease that was really too thick for cold weather operation. Under certain periods of extreme cold weather operation, the backup lock would not lock up. Thus, when you went to set the hook the reel would back reel, unless you were holding the handle. This problem was easily fixed by taking the reel apart, flushing out the grease and relubricating the reel with a grease that did not get so thick in the cold weather.
Again, this was an issue a few years ago, and is likely not the case with todays reels.
