Just put on a spool of Transition line the other day and was impressed with the way it lit up in the sun. My question is in regard to using this line in shallow, clear water, especially on a sunny day. While I understand the line is supposed to exhibit the same "invisible" tendencies of a fluorocarbon line when in the water, the way it lit up when on the reel made me wonder what it would look like when the sun hit it in a shallow water situation. Does the water have some tendencies that prevent whatever causes the line to brighten from occurring, even when the water is clear and/or shallow? Thanks in advance for any imformation or opinions.

It is the UV rays from the sun that turn the transition line a gold color. UV rays don't ususally pentatrate (sp) into the water more than a foot or two even in clear water so as the line gets below that layer, it turns clear due to the lack of UV rays. Hope that helps!

I fished transition last weekend and when I reeled it in fast, it was clear, also when lifting the rod tip and pulling about 3 feet of line out of the water it was clear

I have snagged quite a few times already this spring trolling for brown trout and my loss rate is roughly the same with Transition as it was with Big Game last year. I was using 12lb. in both cases. The one thing I found to be VERY important with Transition is to use a palomar knot and make sure the line is really wet! If I tie a standard Trilene knot the line will break quite easily. With the palomar I am very happy.
