Lowrance Global Map 3000

I was going to purchase a new global map 3000 and was wondering if anyone has used one of these units. Looking for any pro's or con's on the unit. Thanks for any input.

I am not 100% sure but I think the 3000 is being discontinued. Chances of being able to get it repaired in a few years are slim. I would call Lowrance and see how long they are going to support this unit. None of the newer chips work in this model also.

Someone else asked about this in the boat/motor forum too. You can get the GlobalMap 4800 (which is a newer release) for the same price and it will run the newer maps like Navionics Hotmaps Premium while the 3000 will not. The 4800 is a five inch screen, but I don't think that one inch difference will matter much on a GPS.
