hi guys, im looking into getting a lcx 18c for my boat.i know the new color ones look alot brighter and the color shades are also. will i need to get a screen shade for this unit, or is it easy to see in bright sunlight? any other input or advice on this model would be apprieciated...thanks in advance.

I have a x-19 and its the same as the x-18 just more pix. They are a little hard to see in dirrect sunlight but not that bad. If you have it on a council boat above the wheel then it is very easy to see all the time.

Depending on the price you are getting on the 18C, you might look into the Eagle Fishstrike 1000C. It's the same as the 18C but was just released this season so my understanding is that all the new Eagles would have the latest screen upgrade for that model. The Eagles run about $600 for sonar and $700 for combos. I've seen the 18C priced all over the board. Might be worth comparing.
