I have my coordinates on my laptop using the Garmin map source software. Is there a way to get them downloaded or copied over to Lowrance Mapcreate software for install into my 3500C? Trying to save the time of entering manually.

what you need to so is import the garmin data and either export it or save as in the lowrance .usr format

Actually the program I used is called expertgps from the same site. I've already transfered all 480 of my way points and routes from my Garmin 162 to my Lowrance 3500c. I couldn't get easygps to see my sd card reader. I used expertgps and imported the data and exported to a file with the extension .usr and then saved that file to the card and then loaded the data into memory.

oh ok.

I think one way around that would be save the data to your c drive first, then use Windows explorer to move it to your sd card

I have the full version of expertgps. Love it.

I would have recommended that but I forgot you can use it free for a while or with other limits.

thanks

I believe the data needs to be decoded in Mapcreate from binary then exporting and saved as a gps text file for inputing to a garmin data. its best to write dircetly to the card thru mapcreate because its a coded data file.

some options

You can load the data into Lakemaster or if it already is and save it as a GPS transfer file, then use there Lowrance/Lakemaster utility for card units to convert the data to Lowrance format. then go into Mapcreate and import the Waypoint list, and save and export onto a chip, remeber once its on a Lowrance chip its a coded file and needs to be imported back to mapcreate and reaved as a text waypoint file.

Nope to you too lol

I have done it for my friend with a Garmin from my Lowrance usr files.

we are talking about waypoints here, not mapcreate .low files.

wrong

low files are ascii text file written and saved in a text format from mapcreate, that same file also can be made from lakemaster GPS transfer file and there lowrance utility, to get it on a chip it must be a data.usr file that is unreadable except in the unit or imported in mapcreate, been doing it its creation.

Well I have saved the Garmin data in a lowrance.usr format but I cannot get it to the lowrance chip. The expert gps does not list the 3500c lowrance as an option. Now what?
I have the card reader hooked to the usb port but cannot seem to find the way to get the file to the card?
Help??

Should be able to use "My Computer" and copy it to the removable drive.

Mike, thanks. That worked. Now I need to put the memory card in the gps and get the waypoints saved. I hve again not been able to figire that out. Please advise what steps to saving the waypoints from the memory card into the gps?
I love this site because it is a big help to guys like me that are semi computer literate.

Scratch that request found what I needed on page 52,53 of the manual. I do not know how I missed it when I went thru the manual the last time (senior moment). I put it in and uploaded the waypoints and they were all there on my maps. Like way cool.
Thanks again everyone for the responses. With your help I was able tp piece it all together.
