I chaecked your web page but am still somewhat confused.
I have a Yamaha T8 with power tilt that is clamped to the transom and not bolted. I would like to install a Bracket Pro. My question is does the Bracket Pro mount to the motor bracket or do I need to bolt it to the transom? I would like to avoid drilling holes in the transom if possible.
Thanks in advance.
I have the Bracket Pro (awesome product) on my Merc 9.9 4 stroke. You have to bolt it to the transom. I'm sure it would be easy to figure out how to do it without bolting it to the transom, however, the bolts through the transom take the load of the bouncing motor stress. If it's not bolted through the transom this stress will still be applied to the motor bracket (at the point of the bolt holes). I already had my kicker bolted to the transom to minimize any theft possibilities. I agree that drilling holes through the transom is not "easy". Measure twice, drill once.
Best Regards,
FJH

walter-- you have to bolt it directly to your transom. do not use your factory, oem bolt holes. that is for mercs only. if you look at the front page of our five page instructions. it says--uses merc oem hole pattern.now look at page five it says ---all motors-excluding mercury.this is for you or any motor other than mercury.we under stand not wanting to drill more holes in your boat. but four holes in your transom with our product on your boat for life is pretty small in comparison to what can and will happen to your kicker in the future.its also an added selling point that future buyer doesnt have to worry about.just make sure before you drill that every thing clears.depending on what boat you have you will probably want use the 5th or 6th hole in the support arm.remember this product is so universal you can mount it specificly to your application.please call us with any questions ok? thanks-- robert --ps . please use all four holes the stress on these kickers from the water hitting them from under neath is tremendous.
